Visual Studio Code
Source code editor for developers

About Visual Studio Code
VS Code is a fast editor with the parts of an IDE that matter: real language intelligence through the Language Server Protocol, a debugger with breakpoints and watch expressions, integrated Git with inline diffs and merge conflict resolution, a terminal, and a task runner.
The extension marketplace is the reason it fits almost any stack — language support, linters, formatters, container and remote-development tooling. Remote SSH, WSL and Dev Containers let you run the editor locally while the code, runtime and debugger live somewhere else entirely.
Licence note: the binaries Microsoft ships are free of charge under Microsoft's own licence, which is not an open-source licence and restricts redistribution. The underlying source code is MIT-licensed and published as 'Code — OSS'. Because of the binary licence this catalog links to Microsoft's download page rather than hosting the installer.
