About Adobe After Effects
After Effects is a compositor and motion graphics tool built on a layer-and-keyframe model. Its working set is animation and effects rather than editing: masks and shape layers, 3D layers with cameras and lights, expressions for driving properties procedurally, and a deep effect library for keying, tracking and colour work.
The tracking tools are what most productions come for — Camera Tracker for solving a 3D camera from footage, Warp Stabilizer, planar and mask tracking, and Roto Brush for isolating a subject without a green screen. Content-Aware Fill removes objects across a whole shot.
Licence status: After Effects is commercial software sold by subscription. It is not free. Adobe provides a time-limited free trial. This catalog links to Adobe's own download page and does not host or modify any Adobe software.
